Air travel can be many things and overwhelming, boring and exhausting are just a few terms we can use to describe the experience. This is especially true if you are flying for many hours. Long hours of flight normally leave many people sick and overly exhausted but this doesn’t have to be the case for you especially if you know how to plan yourself well. Before starting your flight, always take time to plan things up and use the following tips to help you enjoy healthy trips: –
-
Take a travel neck pillow with you
This is where I begin always and there are sufficient, good reasons for it. First, you will find yourself sleeping mid-air and this can be very uncomfortable especially if you do not have the best position and headrest. In fact, many people end their flights with unbearable neck pains and headaches, something that is a result of poor neck and head support. To avoid this, always use the best airplane neck pillows as they help you sleep comfortably and in a relaxed position.
-
Eat well before your flight
Airline food isn’t always the best and many people will testify to this fact. While you want to start your flight fully, you do not want to eat too much as this could turn out to be nightmarish for you. you should eat some salads such as quinoa salad and other snacks which will help you feel full without being too heavy on your system. You can also pack some snacks including apples, seeds, nuts and bananas.
-
Pack some layers
The change of temperature can be tough especially if you are coming from a tropical climate. While aeroplanes have air conditioning, the truth of the matter is that you will need to arm yourself with enough layers to help you adapt well to the changes you experience while over 38,000 feet above the ground. You should have blankets, and warm sweaters if you are moving towards colder places but if you are heading to hot destinations, at least wear light but also carry some socks, a light scarf and a sweater with you. Keeping your body warm will help maintain a healthy immunity.
-
Stay hydrated
Stay hydrated all the way. That’s the rule of the game. You should at least drink a few glasses of water or smoothies before going through the security checkout and keep drinking the water that is provided to you inside the plane. While you’ll be served with a lot of alcohol, coffee and tea inside the plane, the rule of thumb is to always avoid these and instead drink water and juices. Always stay hydrated and you’ll avoid many health complications.
-
Stay active
Even though you have brought with you the best airplane neck pillows, the aim is not to have you sleep throughout the flight period. Deep vein thrombosis or leg clots are common especially when it comes to long flights. The risk is normally increased by periods of immobility due to the cramping of leg and sitting rooms. You should at least ensure that your muscles are contracting and legs moving freely in order to enjoy a healthier flight. Do not wear shoes which are too tight but instead go for saddles or light footwear which you can remove and slip back with ease.
These 5 ways will help make your long flights healthier and even if you are travelling for more than a day, you will always reach your destination feeling better and relaxed.
