Hypertension developing during the fag end of pregnancy is common and as per the doctors this is known as gestational hypertension. Most women tend to face this but the exact reasons are still not known. If you are pregnant lady with high blood pressure, then routine medical check-ups are necessary so that complications do not arise. This is all the more so when this condition develops after 18 to 20 weeks of pregnancy.
The worst part is that hypertension could interfere with the growth patterns of the baby whereby proper sources of food, oxygen and blood are not provided. If it is not treated it could force the placenta to pull out from the uterus as well. One of the major concerns with high blood pressure during the course of pregnancy is that it could lead to preeclampsia. This is a serious situation and could lead to seizures, loss of vision or dizziness when pregnant. If you are having gestational hypertension you would need to be part of routine health care check-ups and the doctors would want to examine your urine for proteins to figure out whether this disease has set in or not.
Varied reasons could arise where a woman could go on to develop high blood pressure before they became pregnant. Say for example PCOS and obesity are the two main causes of hypertension in mothers.
